OUR TEAM

Titan is a partnership of Birmingham inner-city education and community providers working together to raise the quality of life for children, young people and adults living in the Titan area which consists of Handsworth, Aston, Lozells and Nechells areas of Birmingham’s inner city.   We aim to promote positive educational change, to combat disadvantage and promote equal opportunities, to celebrate the benefits of the inner-city environment by building upon the richness and cultural diversity in our communities and to work in partnership with parents, employers and young people to increase participation, motivation, employability skills and well-being.   

The Titan Partnership is an educational charity and is made up of over forty nursery, primary and secondary schools, colleges, business partners and universities; we share ideas, resources and professional development opportunities. We develop common approaches to deal with the challenges of raising attainment, achievement and engagement. Titan also provides teacher training opportunities for primary and secondary education.  

The Titan Partnership manages a the network of Gifted and Talented Coordinators working in schools across the North West area of Birmingham. This network meets regularly as a Community of Practice (CoP) chaired by Executive Director John Bridgman.  John is a member of the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) and is one of only 20 assessors nationally for the NACE Challenge Award, an school-accredited programme for good practice in supporting Gifted and Talented students. The CoP includes colleagues from a number of schools who share practice develop strategies and arrange raising aspiration activities for young people and staff training.

Titan will work closely with its local partner Broadway Academy to deliver the study visits in the UK, prepare the inclusion of UK based best practice into the methodology and support the recommendations for policy makers, plus disseminate the results of the project with local and national networks of professionals . Titan will also prepare the final project conference ‘Discovering and Support of Talented Children’ , to be held in Birmingham in 2016.
